The panels are manufactured on frames of varying size in order to achieve, based on requirement, varying shapes and dimensions by a process where several galvanized 10.00mm diameter steel ropes are set in a square mesh arrangement, perpendicular to the perimeter rope, by opening them with special tooling and fitting alternatively the horizontal rope to the vertical one at the overlap node. Both vertical and horizontal ropes end in an eye with galvanized steel thimble and aluminium-alloy sleeve suitably pressed, within which a galvanized 133-strand 16.00 or 18.00mm diameter steel rope runs around the perimeter of the panel. Main features:
Rope panels are able to absorb considerable energy caused by falling boulders, as in the rockfall barrier version. Forces acting on the panel are delivered to the perimeter rope and, from the latter, to structural anchors – i.e. deep foundation ground anchors – after triggering the dampers. The types of ropes employed are in galvanized steel and standard-compliant with UNI UNI 7292-74 with individual wire class of 180 N/mm2 e 200 N/mm2. To blend into their enviroment, steel ropes can be painted in various shades of green. |
