Series EP rockfall barriers |

The “EP” (from Italian ‘elasto-plastic’) rockfall barrier has been designed to contrast the issue of rockfall events generating, on impact, moderate kinetic energy. At present the Series “EP” ranges available are the following: - AC 400 EP
- AC 1200 EP
- AC 1500 EP
All our rockfall barrier models are produced from brand-new quality materials in accordance with the provisions of ruling standards Series “EP” rockfall barriers, in their varying size for each model, mainly consist of the following: - SUPPORT STRUCTURE: consisting of 168/8mm galvanized tubular steel support struts, 4.00 m high, resting on and linked to a foundation as described hereunder; each upright carries 15mm thick steel plates, welded to it at center distances varying from model to model, with holes and pins for connecting the upright and side guyline ropes;
- CAPTURE AND/OR CONTAINMENT STRUCTURE: consisting of several longitudinal connection points for each 16mm thick AZn 7x19 rope span carrying damping rings, over a distance of 1.80m, with a plastic damper consisting of two specially shaped plates and one heat-treated C70 carbon steel flat plate, blocked by four Class 8.8 M14 bolts torqued to 70 Nm; the upright-to-rope connection is achieved by the inclusion of 18mm diameter galvanized and tropicalized cylindrical coil compression springs which are, themselves, connected by a 30mm diameter steel pin to two plates welded to the upright; deforming mesh 4.00x8.00 m net panels consisting of multiple 7x7, 8mm diameter galvanized steel rope springs forming a 150x150mm mesh by means of special 8mm diameter aluminium sleeves;
- LINKING STRUCTURE: consisting of Azn 7x19 side guylines, 20mm diameter, for each upright equipped with braking system in the shape of a plastic damper having the same features as described above; 7x19 diagonal guylines, 14mm diameter, with braking ring and plastic damper, fitted to central panels; upslope guylines (1 for each upright) having the same characteristics as the side ones and being provided with damper units;
- GROUND FOUNDATION, beneath the support structure, for each upright, a galvanized steel plate clamped by four anchor bolts to a concrete foundation nut, provided with a swivel joint for connection to the upright for the linking structure, consisting of anchorage points in double spiroid rope with suitable cross-section and length.
The barrier is accompanied by a test certificate issued by accredited body following a crash-test carried out in the field in real-life conditions.
