The wire-rope panels with extensible meshes are used principally as the main components of the elastoplastic rockfall barriers.
The panels are built on a special loom by coupling together galvanized wire ropes (49 wires with metal core). In field conditions, the net will be tensioned to obtain diamond-shaped meshes with 15-cm sides.
The nodes of the meshes are tied by special pressed clamping sleeves of aluminium alloy.
This type of resilient panel is therefore capable of extending in response to the degree of strain it is subjected to and of resuming its original condition when the strain is removed.
The panels obtained are of square or rectangular shape, up to 5 m in height and 10 m in length.
The ropes used are galvanized and meet the UNI 7292-74 Standard, with a tensile strength of the individual wires of 180 daN/mm2 and 200 daN/mm2.
